Martin Moroney and Dr Peter Bacon

"It was a stroke of luck to find our Scientific Director, Dr Peter Bacon."

Martin Moroney is a Sydney funeral designer, funeral director and celebrant with a background in behavioural science. He enjoys designing events that surprise and delight his clients.

Martin says: "After a cremation, I always personally deliver the ashes to the family. I became concerned that, more often than not, when I handed the ashes over, the families had only a vague idea - or no idea at all - of what to do with them.”

Evergreen Ashes was born.

He explains: "Most people procrastinate about end-of-life discussions until it’s too late. When the time comes to make these decisions, they are often in the wrong headspace to make good choices. Our job is to look after them by becoming part of the family team and giving them what their loved one would have wanted, had they known it was available. This must be done in a highly supportive, sympathetic and professional way."

"It was a stroke of luck to find our Scientific Director, Dr Peter Bacon," Martin adds. "Peter is a natural resource scientist with a PhD in soil and water management and has consulted internationally on environmental management, including for many Sydney councils. He conducted all testing on cremated remains and designed the laboratory process to neutralise the ashes and make them environmentally friendly."
